2018 Farndon Boat Club Summer Rally kicked off on Friday evening with fun and games in the marquee with Knots Bar & Restaurant providing food and drink, as usual, the family fun and games soon got serious with members and visitors keen to win the prizes & cash on offer. We won’t mention their names, but some took the competitions a little too serious.

Saturday started with the registration for the weekend boat handling and skills-based competitions.

Throughout the day spectators perused the marquee.

The rally weekend was graced with the presence of the Dogs Trust, RNLI, Scouts and FBC Wine & Water and FBC Tombola stalls.

This year we were introduced to the first FBC Bake Off, with a great selection of cakes we were all spoilt for choice. Congratulations to all those that entered...

The club also ran for the first time a boat jumble stall giving boat owners the opportunity to sell some of their unwanted boat accessories/items and pick up a bargain too.

Stalls in the marquee...

With the weather holding (just), boat handling competitions commenced at the entrance of the marina on the River Trent. It was good to see lots of boats entering the different disciplines including some new to boating giving it a go.

As the rain subsided, spectators were given not one, not two, but three fly pasts by the Lancaster Bomber

Saturday evening provided boaters the opportunity to share stories about their boating season. New couple-based games were introduced along with a modern disco giving all the opportunity to show their moves on the dance floor.

We all woke to a cloudy but a warm Sunday morning. As the sky brightened up; the competitions got underway with the river bank and footbridge lined with spectators. As the boat handling competitions finished and the pool competitions began.

The weather continued to be nice throughout Sunday, the decision to run the Grand Duck Race out on the River Trent was made.

NB/ no ducks were harmed during the race...
